The British part of this battle wasn't that big but it was most important. On December 20, 1944 field marshal Montgomery ordered to the British XXX Corps to leave the Netherlands and take position between Maastricht and Givet. They had to stop all the attempts of the Germans to cross the river Maas. The 6th Airborne Division came from England to join them.
The British started on January the 3rd with counterattacks. All their targets were captured on January 16 and they were able to go back to the Netherlands.
