The last part of this route was Hemroulle. We found a memorial for the 463rd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division.
On December 22, major John D. Hanlon asked the members of this village for white sheets. They needed them for camouflage during the heavy snowfall. Three years after the war had ended the American town Winchester, where the major was born, gave sheets to the people of Hemroulle. The major brought them personally.
