On the 5th of May 2005, was the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands and it was celebrated in every town. Cor and Annie de Keijzer own a Willys jeep and the union 'Keep them Rolling' had organized a tour which would pass several polders and small villages. The weather was sunny but it was still very cold in this open car. Luckily, we were dressed warm.
There were two cars in front of the tour that were handing out small American, Canadian and English flags, so the people could wave them. At the end of the tour in IJsselstein, we had to wait for a while. We used this time to take more pictures of the other vehicles. While driving we could only see the back of the car in front of us, or the front of the car behind us. So, this opportunity to get side view pictures was nice.
Then at last, the defile. We drove very slowly along the veterans and a lot of other people. Meanwhile, the canons fired and it was a quite impressive display. All in all, it was a very special day to be there and we shall remember it forever.
