The last monument for us for this day was in Illfurt next to the Rhone-Rhine canal. It was hard to find this monument. We only knew the town and the canal, but nothing more. It took a long time before we found someone who knew where it was. We had to search outside the village and it was hidden from the biking path next to the canal.
It is a monument for a shot down B24 Liberator of the 66th squadron 44th group who came back from a bombardment in Germany on January 29, 1944. All seven crew members died when it crashed in this field.
