After that we drove the Route Joffre. This is a road that connects two valleys. This route was made during WW I by general Joffre to communicate between the valley of the river Doller and the valley of river Thur by Col (=Pass) du Hundsruck (788 m). In the winter of 1944-45 this road was again important in the war. It was the only way for the French soldiers to reach Thann.
On the highest part was a spot to park the car and enjoy the view. There was also a monument for the 1er bataillon de Choc, which passed this point on November 28.
