Near Sigolsheim is another Nécropole Nationale with 1684 graves. We knew this was on top of a mountain. We didn’t know that there was also a big monument for the Americans. Sigolsheim was at the border of the Colmar Pocket and because of this it was liberated and lost again a couple of times. The liberation days were on December 5th, 19th and 28th of 1944. The battles were the heaviest in this area, that is why this cemetery is laid out there.
