Monument for the French, German and American victims of World War II Next to this road at Jebsheim we found a big monument for the French, American and German victims. But even in small towns like this one there is vandalism. One year after placing this monument the bronze plaques with the names of the soldiers who had fought here were stolen. There are new plaques made but they are only used for official ceremonies.
Five days and four nights between January 25 and 30 were fought to liberate Jebsheim. Man to man combat took place in the snow and cold weather. It ended up with 900 killed and 2000 wounded in action (both sides together).
