The 501st also had been at Opheusden. From October 4 until the 15th, they had to fight the Germans. Tanks supported the Germans. The American allies stayed until November 29th in this area.
On April 18, 1945, Opheusden was finally liberated by the 1ste Belgische Brigade (1st Belgium Brigade).
