We went to the Polish war cemetery at Lommel which contains 257 graves.
The advance of the XXX Corps started at Lommel with crossing the canal Bocholt-Herentals by Joe’s Bridge. This bridge was captured on September 10th by the Irish Guards (part of the Guards Armored Division) and held with a lot of difficulties.
To get close to the bridge we had to cross a small part of a biking path with our car. We couldn’t leave our car on the street because there was no parking space.
