We went to St-Martin-de-Varreville. This is where the planned landing was supposed to take place.
August 1st, 1944 the French general Jacques-Philippe Leclerc from the 2àme Division Blindée (2nd French Armoured Division) landed here with 15,000 soldiers and 4,000 vehicles.
We visited the Leclerc monument and the two bunkers on the beach. The first bunker was ruined and the second one had only the complete frontside.
